In need of prayer.....

Right now as I write I think of how lucky and blessed we are... we have jobs, a home, family and so much more that we take for granted... So much we don't even realize...

I don't know this man personally, but I do know his cousin Allison Hanna and his extended family, Jennifer Manley Richard... Their family is hurting right now..... their cousin, son, husband, Brad Wims is very sick.... You can read the latest at http://thewims.blogspot.com/

I have cried many a tear and said many a prayer on this young man's behalf. He is so strong..his wife.... wow, what a woman. She is such a woman of faith. I ask you all who read this to please please pray for this family...for Brad's comfort, for strength in this tough time.

Weekend.....

What a weekend.... is it bad that we didn't participate in Halloween festivities? We went out to dinner at Papa Perez in downtown Bryan (I LOVE this place).... and we made sure to not go back to the house to hand out candy to trick or treaters....i feel kind of like we were "bah humbug" but I am just not a fan of the truck load of kiddos being dropped off at one end of the block and left to roam the streets of strangers until you get back to the truck at the next street over... a bit scary if you ask me.... and man do the weirdos come out on halloween..... why do girls use halloween as an excuse to dress provacitively? Do they really need attention that much? I mean seriously?!?! I am embarassed for them.

Lets move on to Saturday.... people were still dressed up from the night before at the game on saturday.. We had a guy come in to Aggie Locker dressed as a gladiator. Told me i could take a picture with the gladiator for $1.... i mean the temptation was there, but I had to say no.... i was working :) Come to find out...gladiator....one of my employees boyfriends... NICE! Anyway, Ags win so thats always a plus!!

Sunday... we were somewhat slackers on Sunday and did not make it to church... Tyson's family was in town and came to see our new house....which they lovingly approved of. YAY!!! We did work in our yard, work on a buffet table that we are refinishing and bought a new grill!!!! I was so excited about the grill....whoop!!! We already cooked steaks last night...they were YUMMY!

So the weekend is over and Monday is over too..... looking forward to this next weekend to be over....YAY for home football games being done and I get my weekends back!! WHOOP!!

Tyson and I will be married a year on Monday November 17. We still don't know what we are going to do.... any suggestions?

We're MOVING.....

So..... on Wednesday we found out at work that they are rebuilding/renovating the MSC and that we, the bookstore, and everyone else in the building have to be out by May/June... So we are "homeless" with our jobs.... Nobody really knows where they will be relocated to on campus, but do know that we will be back in action May 2012.... YAY for 3 years of waiting... In the meantime we may be in G. Rollie, maybe in a "bubble" like the new indoor track facility....who knows!! It's exciting to be getting a new store...... Yesterday they had an open forum for the new MSC renovation... and the 2nd question asked was "What's gonna happen to the grass?" Really??? We are about to not have student center for 3 years and people don't have new destinations for their offices, but you are worried about grass....geez kids!!! so YAY for moving locations in the summer... WHOOP!!!

Recipes.... the easy ones

I decided to post a few recipes that I think others might enjoy.... I am a set it and forget it type cook and like things simple.

I LOVE to bake!!! One of my favorites is a Sock-It-To-Me cake. It is so moist. And of course its EXTREMELY healthy... HA

1 box of Duncan Hines Golden Butter Cake Mix
1/2 cup sugar
2/3 cup vegetable oil
1 stick of butter (softened)
4 eggs
1 cup of Sour Cream

For Center Swirl:
3 TBS. Brown Sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together and pour 1/2 the mixture into a bundt pan (grease and flour pan). Then sprinkle the cinnamon and brown sugar mixture over batter. Next, pour the rest of the batter on top. Bake for 1 hour at 325 degrees.

You can make a glaze to pour on top with powdered sugar and milk.

Another Favorite is what my mom calls "Working Woman's Roast". This one is great. Put it on in the morning before you leave for work and dinner is ready when you get home!! LOVELY!!

1 roast (chuck or pikes peak is best)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 pkg. Lipton Onion Soup Mix (dry)

Place roast in crock pot. (Add potatoes and carrots if desired) Spread soup over top. Next sprinkle onion soup mix over that. Cook on low for 8 hours. Your roast is ready and the gravy is already made.

Hope you guys enjoy these 2 as much as I do....

yIKEs....

So both of us are home today...because of Ike. Tyson's school is a shelter, and therefore they cannot have school with evacuees there as well. Me, yeah not real sure why we are off. A&M cancelled classes and closed the campus until Sunday. We had to cover all the computers and registers JUST IN CASE. Are you kidding me? Put that crap outside and maybe we can get NEW technology. GENIUS idea i thought!! haha. Anyway, Tyson has mowed the yard and I have cleaned the living room and kitchen. I am really not sure what to do with myself. I guess take in all the TV and electricity I can before we lose power.... IF we do lose power. I am just not sure how bad it is going to be up here in BCS. I guess we will see later tonight. I've done all the laundry... I've cleaned..... *sigh* what to do to pass the time today... maybe I will just read a good book!! OR take a nap!!! YAY!!

But in all seriuosness..... my prayers are with those that are down in the areas that are being hit already....BE SAFE!!!

Growing Up...

We FINALLY moved into our new house 2 weeks ago. It has been the most hectic and draining process I have ever gone through.... Of course, our house still isn't 100% finished. Little things still have to be completed by the builder, like shelves in the laundry room, replacing a light fixture above the sink, etc. Then there is always touch up paint that has to be done. Oh the joys of building and owning a home. WOW!!!

We are grown ups now! It is crazy to think that just 4 years ago I was graduating college and embarking on the "real world" by myself in Lubbock, Texas. And who knew that I would find the man of my dreams out in the LBK and then move back to God's Country, AGGIELAND!! :) I guess the good Lord put me out in dust storms for a good reason!!! :) :) :)

We are both so lucky and so blessed to be back in the place that we love and to have a place of our own. I will post pictures soon of the house, once it is completely finished!

Moving up....

So tonight we finally finished moving out of our duplex. It was a little sad, as it was the first place we shared as a married couple. It is bitter sweet. However, we are excited about becoming in homeowners in very few days. The house is almost done... we should be able to move in our stuff on Saturday....YAY!!!! Right now all our belongings are in the garage and at Tyson's parents.... what an ordeal. I am so ready for this whole house thing to be done. We are ready to be at HOME!!! Hopefully the next time I post, there will be pictures of the new house to view!!!

Tennis Widow

I just thought I would post about being Husband-less for the past 5 going on 6 weeks. Tyson is at A&M Tennis Camp doing what he loves...coaching tennis!! And as happy as I am that he is loving his job, I miss him... We have only been married 8 months, but I am realizing how much I depend on his presence. He is so wonderful and I enjoy him just "being around". I am so ready for him to be home with me!

We are also, HOPEFULLY, moving next weekend (the 26th). We will see if that actually happens. But I am planning this move by myself since Tyson isn't here...kind of rough. He has LOTS of stuff to go through... My mom says that when I am married for a little longer, I won't care, and will just throw stuff away and get rid of his stuff...haha... So right now I am living with a house full of boxes...kitchen packed up... nothing on the walls or shelves...the house looks really sad. I am ready to be "HOME" and settled in our new house.

New House Blues #2.....

So yesterday was my wonderful husbands birthday!!! He turned the big 2-7. WOO WOO!!! However, he is at tennis camp and got to spend his day working in the hot sun with a bunch of screaming adolescents!! I on the other hand went to take a look at the progress of our new house. I was very excited to see the paint on the ceilings and trim. Also, the bathroom cabinets are painted. They were staining the kitchen cabinets when I came in, and as beautiful as they looked, I was sure that this wasn't the stain color I picked out. I contacted our builder and real estate agent to let them know about the stain. Needless to say, they have put the wrong stain on the cabinets!! LOVELY!! Just add it to my list of why I don't want to build a home again. This has been a very trying and discouraging process. I am meeting today, very soon, with the real estate agent and hopefully builder to discuss options. What fun!! Pray that I don't hurt someone during this whole homebuilding process!!

Happy 4th!!

Today we are headed "home" to Granbury for the 4th. I say "home" because my parents have just recently moved away from Eastland. But we have moved so many times, "home" is where ever the parents are living. This is Tyson's first time to see my parents new home. And we don't know how to get there :) haha :) Well, we know ho to get to Granbury, but they live in Pecan Plantation and we have to come in the back entrance, but I know how to get to the house from the front entrance.... which is way out of the way from where we will be coming into town. It will be an adventure. I LOVE Granbury on the 4th. They have all these fun festivities and the square has lots of vendors set up. It will be so much fun. I hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th weekend!

blogging from camp...

I never thought I would get a blog, but when my wonderful wife told me she had made one, I figured, Why not. So, I am at tennis camp right now. I am supposed to be helping out with camp olympics, but my BEAUTIFUL wife brought my birthday present, so we are up in my room. Wait, get your mind out of the gutter...

I have a huge headache, probably from yelling at kids all day to bend their stinking knees on volleys. Thats always a task. So, maybe I will get to bed early tonight and get some sleep for the first time in 3 weeks. 3 almost down, 3 to go. I am going to be worn out week six, I can feel it. Oh well, cant beat the pay, and I have a mean farmers tan.

Okay, I am going to work now. We will see where this blog goes in the future. Thanks and Gig 'Em!

New House...blues

So today I took off work to do some house stuff that I haven't been able to get to because these places do not have normal business working ours and aren't open on the weekends.... lovely. I get to this place called The Paint Warehouse, where I am to pick out stain for the cabinets. I was supposed to be able to walk in and samples would be waiting for me... Oh no, not the case. I had to decide what stains I wanted samples of. This was not what we were orginally told. Needless to say, I was quite perturbed. This building a new home has been quite the challenge. And for those of you that know me, know that I am not a good decision maker..... It has been a struggle. So here in a bit I am headed back to the Paint Warehouse in hopes that my stain samples are ready so that I am not the hold up at closing. What a day, What a day!

Our first

Okay...so I am starting a blog....its a first for me, but I figure since I like to talk I might as well write it too.... Tyson is at tennis camp for 6 weeks straight....2 down, and on our 3rd right now. I miss him dearly and am ready for him to be done...but he loves every minute of it... so for now, unless tyson logs on it will be my ramblings... Again, i am new to this and it is a work in process....
